Social Media Management Cost: What Should You Actually Pay?
Ask ten businesses what they pay for social media management and you will hear ten different numbers, anywhere from $300 a month to $10,000. Almost all of them are telling the truth, and almost none of those numbers mean the same thing.
This page is the honest breakdown. What social media management actually costs in 2026, what drives the price up or down, the red flags of plans that are too cheap to be real, and how to tell what you are really paying for.
What Social Media Management Costs in 2026
There are three rough tiers in the market. These are honest ranges for real work, not teaser prices.
Freelancers: roughly $500 to $2,000 per month. Usually one person covering a few platforms. Many freelancers are strong on one thing, content creation or community management, and thinner on strategy and paid ads. This works well if you already know what you want posted and just need someone reliable to run it.
Small agencies and boutiques: roughly $2,000 to $5,000 per month. A small team with a real strategy process, regular reporting, and usually some ad management included or available. This is where most serious small businesses land, because one person can rarely do strategy, creative, posting, and reporting well at the same time.
Large agencies: $5,000+ per month. Full teams, dedicated account managers, in-house creative production, and multi-platform campaigns. Built for companies with real marketing budgets and something to spend them on.
A useful rule of thumb: below $500 a month you are usually buying scheduled posts, not management. Above $5,000 a month you should be getting a team, not a person.
What Drives the Cost
Five factors decide where any quote lands in those ranges.
1. How many platforms. Managing Instagram and TikTok is one job. Adding YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X multiplies the work, because every platform needs native formats, native posting rhythms, and native community engagement. More platforms, more hours.
2. Posting volume and content type. Three graphics a week costs far less than daily short-form video. Video is where the attention is in 2026, and video costs more to produce. Any plan built around daily video will sit higher in the range than one built around graphics.
3. Who makes the content. This is the biggest cost driver of all. Stock photos and templates are cheap. Original video, branded creative, and on-camera content are not. The content is the product; everything else is distribution. If a quote seems low, check who is actually creating what.
4. Community management. Replying to comments, handling DMs, engaging with other accounts in your niche. It is real hours every week, and skipping it is why so many business feeds feel dead even when the posts look fine.
5. Strategy and reporting. Someone has to decide what to post, why, and in what order, and then prove it worked. Cheap plans skip this entirely and just fill a calendar. Real management starts with a plan and ends with numbers.
One more thing, and it matters: ad spend should always be separate. The money you pay Meta, TikTok, or Google for ads is not the manager’s fee. Any quote that blends the two into one number is hiding the real price of at least one of them. Insist on seeing them separately.
The Softiqq Angle: One Team From Content to Ads
Here is the problem most businesses run into. They hire one person to make content, another to post it, and a third to run the ads. The pieces never quite fit together, the creative does not match the campaigns, and nobody owns the result.
Softiqq Solutions works differently. We are one team that makes the content, runs the socials, and runs the ads. The video we create for your feed is cut from the same creative thinking as your ad campaigns, because it comes from the same team. Your social presence and your paid campaigns finally tell the same story.
Our social media management plans are scoped to your goals. Tell us where you are and we will send a fixed monthly quote. No tiers designed to upsell you, no mystery fees, no blended numbers.

Red Flags of Cheap Social Media Plans
If a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is. Watch for these:
$99 to $299 a month for “unlimited posts.” At that price the math does not work unless the posts are templated, recycled, or bought in bulk. Your brand ends up looking exactly like everyone else’s.
No strategy call and no reporting. If nobody asks about your goals and nobody shows you numbers, you are renting a posting robot, not hiring a manager.
Ad spend folded into the fee. You deserve to know exactly what went to the platforms and what went to the manager. Blended pricing hides both.
Long lock-in contracts. A confident manager sells month to month. Twelve-month lock-ins protect the agency, not you.
Content you could have made in Canva. If the “content creation” is stock photos with your logo dropped on top, you are overpaying at any price.
Before you ask.
What is the average cost of social media management?›
For a small business, expect roughly $500 to $2,000 a month with a freelancer and $2,000 to $5,000 a month with a small agency. What matters more than the average is what is included: content production, posting, community management, and reporting are four different jobs.
What does a social media manager actually do?›
Four things: plan the content strategy, create and publish the content, engage with your audience, and report on what worked. If a plan only covers publishing, that is scheduling, not management.
Is a cheap $300 a month social media plan worth it?›
Usually not. At $300 a month there is no budget for original content, strategy, or real community management. You get templated posts that do little for your brand.
Should ad spend be included in the management fee?›
No. Ad spend goes to the platforms, and it should be billed separately and transparently. Management is the fee for the team’s work; ad spend is the budget for distribution.
How much does Softiqq Solutions charge for social media management?›
Plans are scoped to your goals, so there is no one-size-fits-all price. Tell us where you are and we will send a fixed monthly quote.
